Workers' Compensation Law

If you are unable to work due to a job-related illness or injury, chances are you can apply for and receive benefits under the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act. Under the Act, you can be provided with wage-loss compensation benefits and medical expenses. Wage-loss benefits can last until you return to the workplace. Death benefits for work-related deaths can be also covered and are usually paid to the person’s dependent survivors.

At Larry Pitt & Associates, P.C., our experienced attorneys have helped thousands of people just like you who were injured while on the job. We know what it takes to build a successful claim for benefits, and we can help you obtain the compensation you need in order to heal. We can help you protect your family and your future after you have suffered an injury in the workplace, including injuries resulting from third-party negligence.

The Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act

The Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act covers almost all Pennsylvania employees. The Act claims that employers must provide workers’ compensation coverage to all of their employees, including part-time and seasonal staff members. Nonprofit corporations, unincorporated businesses, and even employers with only one employee must comply with the Act’s requirements.

The law also covers you regardless of where you were hired, and in some cases, an injury that occurred outside of the state of Pennsylvania can be covered. So if your company is based in Reading and you are sent on a job in Lansdowne, and during the course of your work there you are injured on the job, you may be entitled to compensation under the Act.

Why You Need a Good Attorney

Workers’ compensation claims can require depositions, cross-examination by defending attorneys, sworn testimony, more than one court appearance, and vast knowledge of the governing laws that protect you as an employee in the state of Pennsylvania. This is why it is so important to have an attorney that is familiar with the Workers’ Compensation Act and has handled thousands of cases.

You would not trust a mechanic to perform surgery on your spouse, so why trust an attorney who does not practice workers’ compensation law? At Larry Pitt & Associates, P.C., you can rest assured that you will always work with a skilled and experienced lawyer who knows what it takes to help an injured worker, and who understands the laws. All we do is protect the rights of the injured – and we can protect you, too.
